A Message from Liz Pike

A video message from Representative Liz Pike (click on the photo to go to the video)

WSRP Chairman calls for citizen uprising (and we agree)
– From Susan Hutchison 3/17/2015-

The Washington State Republican Party believes all voters ought to have a say in the selection process for their party’s Presidential nominee.  There are twelve days left (8 days as of 9/21 - ed.) to move the Primary to March 8th (from the current date of May 24th).  The Secretary of State can reconvene the special committee, and the vote of just one Democrat is needed to join with the other committee members (and the majority of state voters!) in allowing a March 8th Primary.

For the past two decades, every Primary has been moved to February or March.  Why, in a year when the contests have garnered so much interest (a new record for CNN in all-time ratings for the 9/16 Debate) should we put Washington State in the back row of primaries, when we could have a front row seat?

Contact the state Democratic Party at (206) 583-0664 and the Secretary of State at mail@sos.wa.gov or (360) 902-4151.  A citizen uprising could change 2016 election history!   Visit www.WSRP.org to contact the state Republican party.

A message from the John Kasich campaign:
My name is Don Watts.  I live in Everett and have been active in republican politics in Snohomish County for years.  I have been authorized by the campaign to reach out to people on the campaigns behalf in Washington.  I would like to give you my contact information in case anyone in your county would like to support John and receive information about his campaign.  Don Watts 425-353-8876 don@donaldgwattscpa.com

Clark County Caucus Planning Update:
We had two prior meetings that were very well attended, but we needed the state caucus rules established before we could proceed.  Now that the rules are in place and the February 20, 2016 date set, we need to move full steam ahead.  This next planning meeting on 9/30 (see below) is open to every interested citizen.  Please join us for an update on the rules and the establishment of committees to guarantee a stellar 2016 presidential year in Clark County.

Pike Files as an Official Write-In Candidate!

The Clark County Republican Party is very excited to report that Representative Liz Pike filed as an official write-in candidate for the County Chair position!  The Precinct Committee Officers courageously and overwhelmingly endorsed the plan at our August 26th meeting.

Please like the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WriteInLizPike?fref=ts and sign up to volunteer on the website: http://www.writeinlizpike.com/volunteer.  This is a massive effort requiring maximum participation, but it will be accomplished when we all work together.  And what a reward for our efforts!  Liz Pike's energy, enthusiasm, positive attitude and great communication skills clearly make her the superior candidate.   We are extremely fortunate to have this opportunity.

Below is the press release she issued earlier today:

Liz Pike Registers As Official Write-In Chair Candidate: "Every Vote Must Count."

On Friday, Sept. 18th, Washington State Representative Liz Pike (R-Camas) filed a declaration of candidacy as an official write-in candidate for the Clark County Council Chair position.

“Here we are at the end of the 2015 campaign season. I have remained consistent in my position that I will serve if elected Clark County Council Chair and that I would not actively campaign," said Pike. "I have kept my word."

"It has come to my attention that broad leeway is given in tabulating ballots cast for write-in candidates who have officially registered over other write-in candidates who are not registered. The sole point of registering as an official write-in candidate is to ensure that no Clark County voter is disenfranchised and that every legal vote counts," said Pike.

“I’m very grateful to receive the official Clark County Republican Party endorsement for county chair,’’ Pike said. “I appreciate the trust and confidence placed in me by this grass roots volunteer organization. Under these circumstances I would have loved to campaign full-time for this important job. However, I said all along that my first duty is to represent the citizens of the 18th District in our State Capital. I also gave my word that I would proudly serve as Chair if the citizens elect me in a successful write-in campaign. I am honoring these commitments. I am keeping my word,’’ stated Pike.

When asked how she plans to vote, Pike said, “I will write in Liz Pike for county chair because strong leadership cannot wait.’’

Here is our recent Reflector ad.   With your help we will have ads and signs everywhere.  There are lots of ways to participate.  Please click on the links above and get connected so we can all get our neighbors to Write in Liz Pike!

Thank you so much for your support, and as always, I am available to you at any time.

New Caucus Rules for 2016

Saturday, at the WSRP state committee meeting in Pasco, representatives from Washington's 39 counties adopted new rules that will govern the 2016 presidential precinct caucuses.  Because of rules established at the national convention in 2012, our 2016 caucus will probably have a different feel to it than we have come to expect.  Delegates to the county convention will still be elected via the caucus process, but the incentive to choose people who favor one presidential candidate over another has likely been removed.  Those elected to represent us at the national convention in Cleveland, OH, will be bound to vote for candidates chosen via our presidential primary.  Because the allocation of delegates will be proportional to the votes they garner in the primary, several presidential candidates could end up with delegates through this new process.  If you want to learn more about this please attend our caucus planning and caucus training events in the months ahead or contact us any time to discuss the details.

The 2016 precinct caucus should be an unprecedented opportunity to build grassroots support neighborhood by neighborhood.  These new rules create challenges, but also new opportunities.  Our commitment to build a strong team for 2016 through a well-organized caucus remains intact.

Important dates for the 2016 presidential election:
WA State precinct caucuses - February 20, 2016
Clark County Convention – TBD
WA State Convention – May 19 - 21, 2016, Pasco, WA
WA State Presidential Primary - May 24, 2016
National Republican Convention – July 18 – 21, 2016, Cleveland, OH
General Election – November 8, 2016

The Write In Liz Pike website is Live!

A message from the Write In Liz Pike PAC:
The Write in Liz Pike PAC is working diligently to gather information and develop the strategy for success.  Thank you to all the volunteers joining our team!  You can now like our Facebook Page and sign up at our own website: WWW.WRITEINLIZPIKE.COM.  Be sure to add your name at the spread the word link where you can get your personal unique social media link, post it in your personal emails or in your social networks, then come back to the page and see who you have recruited!  Who will be the #1 social media promoter during this campaign?  Go to the leaderboard to see the rankings!  It is important to note that this effort is honoring Liz's promise to not campaign so that she can continue to represent the 18th as she promised. This campaign will be championed by the grassroots volunteers!
Regards,
Phil Haggerty

The Reflector wrote a nice front page article on our endorsement of the PAC campaign which you can find here.  My favorite quote: When asked how she plans to vote, Pike said, “I will write in Liz Pike for county chair.’’

Campaign signs:
Let’s keep our candidate’s signs looking sharp.  If you carry a screw gun and hammer most signs can be put back into good shape in just minutes.  Sloppy signs give a bad impression.
Does anyone have a gas powered auger to loan?  One of our sign builders wants to borrow it.  Give Kenny a call at 360-521-8565.

Write In Liz Pike!

For over 20 years the mighty Linda Smith write-in story has been told with awe and reverence.  It is time for another great story to be born – the Draft Liz Pike story.  With her remarkable communication skills, unmatched energy and charisma she will be a superb spokesman for the county.  She is perfect for the county chair position.  We just need to get the message to all our Republican friends that they must check the box and write-in the name, Liz Pike.  The PAC and the Clark County RepublicanParty have every intention of winning this write-in campaign and proudly telling this story for the next 20 years.  Until a website is up click here to volunteer.  We will send updates with links to the PAC campaign site as it becomes available.  We have just over 60 days to accomplish this, or about 40 more than they did back in 1994.  This is totally within our reach.

Press release:

Clark County Republican Party endorses the Write in Liz Pike for County Chair campaign.

On Wednesday, August 26, 2015, the Clark County Republican Party Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs) considered their options in the County Chair race.

They met next-door to Shared Hope International, the acclaimed non-profit organization founded by Clark County’s last victorious write-in candidate, Linda Smith.

Finding themselves without a conservative candidate in the race for county chair, the Republican PCOs overwhelmingly endorsed the Write In Liz Pike for County Chair campaign.  They took the additional step to officially oppose the candidacies of Marc Boldt and Mike Delasandro for the same position.

Noting that the conservative credentials of Liz Pike are unquestioned, and that she has stated she would serve if elected through this draft campaign, over 79% of the voting PCOs expressed their belief that writing in Liz Pike for County Chair was the best option for the future of Clark County government.

This is exciting news for conservatives of Clark County who are frustrated by the lack of a Republican on the November ballot.  The success of this campaign will depend on each voter recruiting others to write in the name of Liz Pike in the County Chair race.

We are confident that a universally respected leader like Liz Pike is the winning formula for Clark County.

Other endorsements on Wednesday included Julie Olson for County Councilor, District 2; Dick Rylander, Battle Ground School Board; Rosemary Fryer, Vancouver School Board; Lisa Ross, Port Commission.  Prior endorsements include Frank Decker for Evergreen School Board and Dan Coursey for Washougal City Council.

Join us at Liz Pike’s Shangri-La Farm this Friday to meet the next Governor.  If you have not met Bill Bryant be sure to check out the announcement below and come meet him in person this Friday.  Here is a short introduction video.

Carson Tops Field in Straw Poll Results

Final Straw Poll Results From the Clark County Fair.  The straw poll drew a lot of interest and discussion at our fair booth.  Over 500 participated.  Note that our methodology differs considerably from the typical media reported polls.  Asking the participants to select their top three candidates and their least favorite candidate gives a better sense of candidates and the issues that drive the public.  For example, three similar candidates may split a winning number of votes, thus potentially giving a lesser-regarded candidate the appearance of greater standing.  The least favorite candidate question can show whether a candidate has significant opposition.  The scoring we used was 3 points for a First Choice, 2 points for a Second Choice, 1 Point for a Third Choice and -3 points for a Least Favorite choice.  Dr. Ben Carson won our straw poll by receiving the most first place votes and also having the highest score.  Ben Carson also won the recent WSRP straw poll as well as the prior two WSRP straw polls.  The chart lists the candidates by highest to lowest score which is the column on the right side.

We also calculated Second Choice per First Choice Candidate and Least Favorite per First Choice Candidate.  It is too wide of a file to share here, though we’d be happy to send it to you.

Caucus & Primary Dates Set.  Once again Washington State will conduct a presidential primary election in addition to the presidential caucus.  The caucus date will be February 20, 2016 and the Primary will held May 24, 2016.  Mark that caucus date on your calendar as we are gearing up for a great event and we expect record attendance.

HQ Office Staff needed:  With vacation season upon us we need additional office staff to allow our volunteers to take some breaks.  Contact Brenda Poletti if you can help out: poletfam@yahoo.com.
