Clark County Republican Party Elects New Chairman & Vice Chairman

New Chairman Kenny Smith thanks Lynda Wilson for her service to the local GOP.  Her remarkable success as chairman resulted in overwhelming calls to run for the State Legislature.  Lynda Wilson resigned to concentrate on her 17th District Representative campaign.  Her website can be found at . Vice chairman Steve Nelson also resigned as the bylaws required him to become chairman though other obligations precluded him from assuming the role.  He will continue to be active in the party.

VANCOUVER, WA.  On February 11th, 2014, 139 Republican Precinct Committee Officers met at Clark College’s Columbia Tech Center and elected Kenny Smith and Brenda Poletti as their Chairman and Vice Chairman.

Kenny, who lives in Hockinson with his wife Renae, most recently served as the 18th Legislative District Chairman.  Kenny’s political activism began in 2007 with a new awareness of an irresponsible national debt which appeared to be the result of a reckless Congress and the inaction of the citizens they had discouraged.

“I have been compelled to sacrifice work and give many hours to campaign for local, state, and national Republican candidates in each election cycle since 2007.   I would prefer to be tinkering with my antique cars and radios, but the national debt has nearly doubled from the alarming $9 trillion that spurred me into action just a few short years ago.

Since 2011 Brenda has been driven to find, organize and activate other conservatives to participate in the local Republican party and to vote. She has been involved in several campaigns, a record-setting Lincoln Day Dinner, and has served as an active member of the CCRP board. “I have seen firsthand how apathy and disillusionment can be transformed into passionate grassroots activism when conservative principles are boldly proclaimed.”  She and her husband, Dan, live in the Orchards area with their five children.

Kenny and Brenda will kickstart their plan for reaching out to the community with monthly gatherings between the board members and the public, the first of which is at Coffee Villa on March 1 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.  All members of the public are encouraged to come and meet the board members.  Coffee Villa is located at 13011 NE Fourth Plain Blvd., Suite 106.  "Many Clark County citizens are paying attention but have never been in contact with the local Republican party.  We look forward to meeting with them," says Chairman Smith.

Thank you for stepping in to lead and for the invitation. I’m just sorry I had a conflict at that time today and couldn’t attend. Appreciate your work very much. Thank you. Henry Harbert
