Let's Support Our Legislators

Last week we included the very long list of positions that will be up for election next year and mentioned that it is not too early to begin thinking about winning these races.  Actually this is the perfect time to think about the state legislative races because they are not allowed to raise campaign funds when they’re in session.  With all the extra sessions they endured last year they had less time to raise funds.  Next month the new session begins so the fundraising freeze begins December 12th.  Please send them your most generous contribution before that deadline.

On Senate Bill 5263 from Vicki Kraft, 17th LD Chair:  I encourage you to take this opportunity to learn more about an important bill that will affect property owners who are part of an HOA. If this law passes, it will impact all WA citizens' property rights living in an HOA community.  We thought this bill was dead, but it appears to have resurfaced.  Specific problems with the bill as presented in 2015 is attached here.

CCRP is hosting an informative and collaborative discussion on Tue., Dec. 8th at HQ to discuss this bill.  Check below in the “Coming Events” section for additional information.

You can find the Original Bill (SB 5263) and the history of the bill during the 2015 session at this link:

Your part in this all volunteer organization.  With the election over and the holidays approaching our public schedule is a little quiet.  Don’t let that stop you from organizing and promoting your passion.  Everything on our schedule is there because someone took initiative to organize or promote it.  If you organize an event that promotes Republican values or candidates we would likely want to help you publicize it.  Give us a call, send us an email.  Let’s talk about it.

Coming Events

COUNTY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING November 17, 10am - noon
Public Service Center, sixth-floor hearing room, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver
Making decisions that can shape the course of life in Clark County for years to come is not an easy process. That’s why before they decide an issue, Clark County’s commissioners get extensive input from community members through citizen advisory groups, town hall meetings, one-on-one conversations, and other means.

Clark County Republican Party HQ - 9401 NE Covington Rd., Vancouver
CCRP is hosting an informative and collaborative discussion on this bill which failed to advance in 2015, but is slated to be reintroduced in 2016.  The bill is controversial due that association boards will gain the ability to violate specific Covenants Codes & Restrictions without your vote or consent as a homeowner.  DON’T LET ANYONE TAKE AWAY YOUR PROPERTY RIGHTS!  To RSVP or for additional information on this meeting please contact Vicki Kraft, 17th Legislative District Chairman, at 360-771-5201 or

We’ll have a booth at this event with materials from all the Republican presidential candidates (for which we have literature).  If you would like to help us either at the booth or to make sure your favorite candidate has literature to share with the visitors please give us a call.  The show runs 9-6 on Saturday and 9-4 on Sunday.

Please encourage others to sign up for our mailing list at  Many do not know that we send information every week in email form.  This will be very important in the months ahead as we approach caucus and convention season.  Also, people may have to rejoin from time to time as their email provider takes them off our list thinking we are spam.  It happens every week and we have no control over it.  So if you ever hear anyone say that they used to get the newsletter, but no longer, they were likely removed by their own provider and they need to rejoin at the link above.

Call me.   I am available to you any time,

Kenny Smith
