County Convention A Success!

A heartfelt and personal thank you to everyone who made Saturday’s convention a success through your participation and volunteering.  You were patient and kind.  It was nice getting to meet many of you.  We even got a nice article from the Columbian: http://www.columbian.com/news/2016/mar/12/clark-county-republican-party-convention-2016-huge-success/.  I am very proud of you.

I think this selfie taken by Secretary of State, Kim Wyman, was the best photo of the crowd.

Let’s have a debriefing session next Monday, March 22, 6:30pm at HQ to discuss the convention and how we can improve it.  Please join us if you can.  Everyone is invited.  You can also email your suggestions to me.

None of us had ever organized such an event and we could not have done it without lots of volunteer support.

There are many people to thank such as Brad Jensen of Wrenhaven Music, (360) 907-3637 who donated the sound systems and support for each of the breakout areas;  Global Security360-693-1900, always a great friend and partner, who allowed us to print documents at their offices; Pacific Office Automation888-896-9029, who delivered to us a brand new, very expensive, scanner/printer for our use free of charge (we barely even had to ask.); and Michael Kelley and his crew at the Clark County Event Center360.397.6066 who made sure we had everything we needed.

Christian Berrigan designed a great registration system and Katja Delavar & Lisa Ross gave mountains of time to make sure every little detail was considered and fulfilled.

There will be many people missed in this list, but I know the following people volunteered significantly to make the event a success: Anita Gillingham, Donna Boyes, Karen Clanton, Debbie Larner, Gloria Matthews, Terry Sotta, Jeff Dunham, Jaimie Noorlun, Sally Dierenfeld, Julie Longoria, Mark Fritzen, Michael Delavar, Kim Rhodes, Janet Parker, Ayric Dierenfeld, Brenda Poletti, Margie , Robert Russell, Brent Sullivan, Lacy Lepro, Tracey Lepro, Jonathan Atkinson, Diane and David Moeglein, Renae Smith, Greg Gray, Derk Maniscalco, Valerie Vance-Gray, Daniel Helland, Benjamin Poletti, Joseph Lauser, the members of the Platform and Resolution Committee, the youth volunteers, and the army of helpers who showed up Friday night and Saturday morning to pack registration bags and set up.

Speaking of registration bags, thanks to Lisa Ross’ foresight, we surely have the best swag in the state of Washington.  If you missed the convention you can still get our bag, including the much-praised seat cushion for a modest $10 donation.

I intentionally left the PCOs out of the above list so that I could point them out separately.  Again, I know I will miss many:  Karen Trumbull, Rich Johnson, Tom Kelly, Nathan Noorlun, Eric Heredia, Joseph Wagner, Mark Deason, Jeannie Hix, Carol Brown, BIll Davis, Pamela Gandarillas, Bob Butler, Vicki Kraft, Jim Johnson, John Anderson, Piper McEwen, Mary Nevius, Maureen Trullinger, Sean Emerson, Joe Wagner, & James Randall.  Thank you PCOs!

And I have to specifically thank the terrific Platform and Resolutions committee who worked very long sessions (one lasting until 2:30am!) to review all the submissions.  We adopted the platform with the amendments they suggested which you can view here.  Even though the delegates did not get to address the resolutions, the resolutions are not necessarily dead.  You can review the DO PASS resolutions here and the DO NOT PASS resolutions here.  Then encourage you PCO to promote them at the next quarterly Central Committee Meeting.

CVTV was at the convention, capturing the opening and candidate speeches.  They don’t have video up on the website yet, but they should within the next couple days.  Go to their website, scroll down the page, and you should find us in the “Recent Programs” section.

CVTV coverage will include candidate speeches from: US Senate candidate, Chris Vance, Secretary of State Incumbent Kim Wyman, State Auditor candidate, Mark Miloscia, State Treasurer candidates, Duane Davidson and Michael Waite, Lieutenant Governor candidate, Phillip Yin, 17th LD Senate candidate, Lynda Wilson, 17th LD Representative candidates, Vicki Kraft and Sam Kim, 17th LD Representative Incumbent Paul Harris, 18th LD Representative Incumbent Liz Pike, 18th LD Representative Incumbent Brandon Vick, 20th LD Representative Incumbent Ed Orcutt, County Council District 3 Incumbent David Madore, County Council District 3 candidates, John Blom and Greg Noelck, County Council District 4 candidates, Jennifer McDaniel and Eileen Quiring

In addition, I was honored to award retiring Senator Don Benton a plaque for his 22 years of excellent service to our community and the state.  He gave a passionate speech that focused on fidelity to your election promises.

Winning supporters, not arguments. I invite you to join us Wednesday, March 23, 6:30pm at HQ for an 80 minute video presentation titled "Robin Koerner's The Art of Political Persuasion."   A review on the cover states: "Robin's understanding of the inner workings of the human brain and his insights into how to use the way the brain processes information to get people to listen, trust, and think is stunning", Ted Metz.  Please join us and maybe we’ll learn how to work together effectively.

Want to join our Herd?  I was watching Ice Ace with my 5 year old granddaughter and the point of the movie is revealed when Sid says, “I don't know about you, but we are the weirdest herd I've ever seen”.  Maybe we need to set aside an evening to watch Ice Age at GOP HQ?
