From the Chairman's Desk-June 28, 2016

If you have items for the calendar or newsletter, send them to  We have yard signs and literature for many of the candidates at HQ - 9401 NE Covington Rd.  We are open M-F noon-4pm.

Bill Bryant's parents rode the bus with us to Tacoma

The Bill Bryant event in Tacoma was fantastic.  There was a great turnout from around the state with charter buses coming from several locations.  Our bus stopped in Lacey and picked up a group that included Bill’s parents.  Bill comes from a really nice family and it was fun to spend time with them.  The program itself was very well organized, but the highlight was clearly Bill’s speech.  How can he deliver a powerful speech like that without notes?  When asked that question, his dad's answer was that Bill was the leader of the debate team in school.  His mother said it was because his speech was delivered from the heart.  Certainly they were both correct.  It was an excellent speech and we’ll include a link to it when it becomes available.  You will want to be in the audience when he debates Jay Inslee.

We have just a few months to promote Bill Bryant.  Stop by HQ and pick up a yard sign and literature.  Be sure to attend any events where Bill is in attendance and study his website so you can be knowledgeable about him.  He is a great candidate and will be the first Republican Governor in over 30 years if we all join forces to support him.

We have just a few more days to gather signatures for the Bathroom Bill.  300,000 signatures are needed by July 8th.  Clark County has really come to life on this issue recently.  We are getting thousands of signatures, but we could still use your help.  We have lots of blank forms at HQ that you can have to get signatures for the effort.  We are almost out of time.  Here is what this petition will do:

  • Repeals the Human Right’s Commission Open Bathroom/Shower Rule. 5 reasons to repeal the rule.
  • Removes liability from businesses who want to maintain gender-specific bathrooms/locker rooms/
  • Requires schools to maintain gender specific bathrooms/locker rooms, and requires that schools provide any gender non-conforming students with a reasonable accommodation that protects the privacy and safety of all students.

In a related article from Gary Bauer:
“You may recall that last month the Obama Administration ordered every school to give boys who claim to be girls access to girls' bathrooms and locker rooms. Outraged parents have responded in some cases by suing the schools for violating the privacy rights of their children.
  In Florida, the margin was 54% against to 37% in favor.
  In Ohio, it was 55% against to 36% in favor.
  In Pennsylvania, it was 53% against to 39% in favor.
This is just one more issue where the American people are clearly with us and against the left, but too many of our leaders in Congress are afraid or unwilling to debate it.”

Clark County Republican HQ is open M-F Noon – 4pm.  9401 NE Covington Rd, Vancouver.

Washington in the news.  Does your vote count? 14 million people voted for Donald Trump, but 112 people can negate those votes by establishing new rules for the convention.  You have probably heard of the effort to change the rules at the national convention to prevent Donald Trump from getting the nomination.  Gina Reed, one of our own Rules Committee members, is apparently working with that movement.  Maybe she should hear from you.

Here is one of many Facebook posts from her:  (Copied as written)  “I am putting this out there.  Please know that I am going to be under significant political pressure over the next few weeks.  If you wish to have CIVIL honest discussion about decisions I am making on behalf of those who elected me to be a National Delegate and on the Rules Committee, then I welcome it.  I had the most amazing discussion with a fellow Rules Member from another State who is also working for the RNC.  It was the most refreshing conversation I have had in a long time.  He is a retired Lawyer, former State GOP Chair of a LARGE Republican State.  He was able to TRULY look at the issues from all sides and separate personal bias from his role at the RNC and then again really discuss with me the pros and cons of all sides.  He himself is seriously weighing all sides.  For those of you who don’t understand what I am talking about……I have been put in a position of serious importance not because of my credentials, but I am trusting God put me here.  That is not to say that I am worthy.  God tends to choose the weak and underqualified.  So I am taking my role seriously.  I am one of 112 people from across the country who will have a part in determining the RULES for the GOP convention in Cleveland.  It is here in this committee that we may or may not allow Delegates to vote their Conscience.  Something that has been a GOP standard for over 100 years up until 1976 when their was an attempt to block Reagan.  I have already been contacted by POLITICO this morning and will no doubt receive many emails and calls.  IF you are just going to tell me my vote will get Hillary elected OR that I will ruin the GOP OR that I will disenfranchise millions of voters OR even that I will have blood on my hands, then save yourself the keystrokes and defriend me now.  I will only have to do it myself.  And I do not care if we have been friends for years.  I will not tolerate it.  On the other hand, if you want to respectfully question and to add to the counsel I receive, I gladly receive it.  Respectfully and humbly, Gina.”  This is from a FB group called Washington State Republicans.  You might want to give Gina Reed some counsel.

Office Staff Needed:  It is time to expand our office hours.  Are you able to give up a few hours per week to keep this office serving the public?  We have kept the office staffed every weekday for two years, expanding during the campaign season.  Most of our volunteers donate just one morning or one afternoon each week so the load is light on everyone.  Can you join the team?  Please call the Office Manager, Rich Johnson at 360-253-2250 or

Franklin Graham is traveling to all 50 states in 2016 to hold prayer rallies, to preach the Gospel, and to challenge believers to take a stand and take action. He’ll be urging Christians to vote, to live out their faith in every part of their lives, and to pray for our nation just as Nehemiah cried out to God to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and restore hope to His people.
