Big Event Saturday!

If you have items for the calendar or newsletter, send them to  We have yard signs and literature for many of the candidates at HQ - 9401 NE Covington Rd.  We are open M-F noon-4pm.

Let’s end 30 years of Democrat rule in Washington State!  Bill Bryant can win this Governor’s race, but it will take all of us working together.  He is a great candidate with broad appeal.  It is critical that we show up in force to support him this Saturday in Tacoma.  He will be joined by New Mexico Governor, Susana Martinez; Secretary of State, Kim Wyman and many others.  Bill has traveled south many times to support our events, let’s return the favor and take the short trip to meet him in Tacoma.

We will have a charter bus leaving HQ Saturday morning.  RSVP here whether you intend to ride our bus or drive up on your own. Whatever you do, find your way to Tacoma on Saturday!  This will mean a lot to the Governor’s race as well as all Republican candidates on the ballot.

Time is running short to gather signatures for the Bathroom Bill.  300,000 signatures are needed by July 8th.  The county has really come to life on this issue this week.  Thanks Piper McEwen & Ann Donnelly for taking leadership on this issue.  We have lots of blank forms at HQ that you can have to get signatures for the effort.  We are really running short on time, but this is still doable.  Here is what this petition will do:

  • Repeals the Human Right’s Commission Open Bathroom/Shower Rule. 5 reasons to repeal the rule.
  • Removes liability from businesses who want to maintain gender-specific bathrooms/locker rooms/
  • Requires schools to maintain gender specific bathrooms/locker rooms, and requires that schools provide any gender non-conforming students with a reasonable accommodation that protects the privacy and safety of all students.

Stop by the office to sign and pick up petitions:  We’re open M-F Noon – 4pm.  9401 NE Covington Rd, Vancouver.  Currently available: The I-1515 bathroom bill and $30 car tab Petitions

Lots of campaign signs and literature at HQ - 9401 NE Covington Rd, Vancouver.  Open noon 4pm, Monday through Friday..  Just in: Phillip Yin for Lt. Governor yard signs and supplies.  Local Phillp Yin contact is Don Van Dyke 360-574-5223.

WSRP is accepting applications for Field Directors in key targeted regions (including Clark County).  The Field Director assists in increasing Republican voter registration, increasing the voter identification numbers in the region by leading canvassing efforts, helps Republicans in local races, and motivates and trains the Republican Party grassroots in preparation for 2016’s statewide elections.  For a full job description of the Field Director position and instructions on how to submit your application, CLICK HERE.  Jake Braunger, Political Director Washington State Republican Party  (425) 460-0570

A little over a week ago we asked Republican candidates to assess their concurrence with our Core Principles and County Party Platform in order to receive access to party resources.  You can find the Core Principles here and the Clark County Republican Party platform here.  We asked them to state, either that they agree with the statements as written, or to offer their explanation of how their position differs.  It turns out they apparently don’t mind completing surveys for LifePAC, NRA or the Columbian editorial board, but many seem to be having a meltdown over answering our survey.  Please look over the Core Principles and Platform and tell us if you would like to know where candidates stand on those statements.

The state party has required the same for years as can be seen in WSRP Policy number 84-1 which reads in part (emphasis added):  “The candidate must exhibit a willingness to work with the Party (state and county) organization. He must declare his general support for the Platform and clearly define points of disagreement if any exist. This Guideline is in accordance with the resolution passed by the 1984 Washington State Republican Party Convention”.

Also, the following resolution was recommended and passed at the recent WSRP Convention in Pasco: RESOLUTION 00-04 Republican Candidate Qualifications:  We support only candidates who are trustworthy, have integrity, and high moral character, and who support the Washington State Party Platform, as well as the State and Federal Constitution they swear to uphold.  Respectfully Submitted to The Washington State GOP Convention, Pasco, WA, 19-21 May 2016 – BY: Michele Smith, Pierce County; Cheryl Cheslik, Pierce; Russell N Dzialo, Whatcom; Katherine Davis, Clallam; Ric Fritz, Pierce

This became an issue, in part, when a Clark County candidate gave speeches around town as to how he was recruited to run for the position to keep it in Republican’s hands, asked for our Republican voter lists, and then filed to run as a Democrat.  (He did not get the list, BTW).

Primary ballots will be mailed out in just a few short weeks.  Please do what you can for our candidates today (and come to Tacoma on Saturday).  We have supplies for many of them at HQ 9401 NE Covington Rd.  Open M-F noon-4pm.
