If you have items for the calendar or newsletter, send them to media@clarkrepublicans.com.  We have yard signs and literature for many of the candidates at HQ - 9401 NE Covington Rd.  We are open M-F noon-4pm.

Please register here for the Bill Bryant event.

Let’s get on the bus for Bill!  Join us for a bus trip to Tacoma to kick off the campaign for Bill Bryant for Governor.  We'll charter a bus if we get a few more people to sign up.  Bill is an excellent candidate for this very winnable race.  His success will help Republicans in every other race on the ballot.  Please let us know if you intend to ride on our bus or if you intend to travel on your own.

Lincoln Day Dinner: As reported last week, we had a fantastic Lincoln Day Dinner!  Photos of the event can be found here and will soon be added to our Facebook album.  Many remarked that it was our best Lincoln Day Dinner ever and we raised over $40,000!  We had terrific speakers, incredible auction items and very generous guests.

Thank you to Fred Boyd of Boyd’s Auctions and Estate Sales who sold the items so generously contributed by individuals and businesses such as Alan Kangas, Mayer’s Custom Meats, DeWils Industries, Creekside Home Painting, Representative Liz Pike, Jase & Jennie Stefanski, Refuge Custom Painting, RW Pawn, NW Vista Balloon Adventures, Richard Johnson, Gevorg Mkhitaryan, Joseph Wagner, Glen Kincaid, Debbie Larner, MK Tactical, David & Donna Madore, Global Security & Sutherland Plumbing.  What a generous group who went above and beyond what was required to make this a spectacular event!  Many, many more donors showered us with great silent auction items too numerous to list here today.

It was a beautiful event which was captured by CVTV.  You can watch it here in its entirety (except for the fantastic auction part): http://www.cvtv.org/vid_link/18161 or you can click on the following links to view specific portions:

Is there a job for you?  Thank you to Larry DeVries for spotting two advertised openings in the Clark Country list of Boards and Commissions.  Serving on a Board or Commission is an ideal way for an activist to establish a reputation and build name recognition while serving in a Public Service role.  Interested persons should be prepared to document their skills in writing and be prepared for an in-person interview during their application process.  The selection is done by the staff of Clark County on behalf of the elected officials of Clark County.  Current openings include: Health Council.  Apply by July 8, 2016 and Development and Engineering Advisory Board (DEAB) Apply by July 19, 2016.

From Carol Levanen at Clark County Citizens United:  Dear Friends,  You and your family should be very concerned about what the new 2016 Comprehensive Plan has in store for you.  Not only is planning staff poised to make higher density in all of the cities and urban areas, they are also planning on locking up rural zoned land in "Agriculture Production Districts".  Their goal is to make owners of adjacent contiguous land, recombine their land, with the goal of creating 100 to 150 acre blocks.  They will then try to combine those blocks.  All of this will be done on land with sub-standard soil and out of the watchful eye of the GMA state law. Please see the attachment and note the Agriculture Production District map on the last page.  When one combines the already agriculture and forest zones, with the ag production land, it includes almost all of the land in unincorporated Clark County.  The new Plan is very socialistic and many of these policies are just surfacing now. We have just discovered that staff also included a second Alternative 4, so now there are two. In addition, staff has changed the original Alt 4 map, that was shown to the public, and replaced it with a different map that removes Agriculture 5 and Forest 10 zones. Such changes are illegal.   Please PROTEST this proposal to the Board of Councilors, and continue to support the November 24, 2015 (Madore) Preferred Alternative, that includes the (Madore) Alternative 4.  You can email the councilors at: jeanne.stewart@clark.wa.gov julie.olson2@clark.wa.gov marc.boldt@clark.wa.gov  david.madore@clark.wa.gov tom.mielke@clark.wa.gov mark.mccauley@clark.wa.gov Thanks!  Carol Levanen, Exec. Secretary,  Clark County Citizens United, Inc. P.O. Box 2188 Battle Ground, 98604 cccuinc@yahoo.com

Core Principles and County Party Platform.  At the March, 2016 County Convention the delegates adopted a platform for the party, which you can find here.  In addition, the Central Committee (the PCOs) have a process to adopt Core Principles.  They have adopted 4 which can be seen here.  Because we have all experienced Republicans eschewing conservatism and voting for big government once elected; we recently had a Republican Senator hold a fundraiser for a Democratic candidate in a race with 4 Republicans; we had a candidate make several speeches saying how he is going to hold the district for Republicans, asks us for precious voter data for the entire district, and then filed as a Democrat; we have people running for PCO that have ties to Democrats, but not Republicans; and there is an organization pretending to be the Republican party, it seemed responsible to the executive board to ask all Republican candidates to state their position on our Core Principles and Platform prior to receiving party resources.  The state party has required it for years.  WSRP Policy number 84-1 policy is (in part) (emphasis added):  “The candidate must exhibit a willingness to work with the Party (state and county) organization. He must declare his general support for the Platform and clearly define points of disagreement if any exist. This Guideline is in accordance with the resolution passed by the 1984 Washington State Republican Party Convention”.
