From the Chairman's Desk-July 26, 2016

If you have items for the newsletter or calendar, send them to media@clarkrepublicans.com.  Please visit us at Republican HQ where we have yard signs and literature for many of the candidates.   Our address is 9401 NE Covington Rd., Vancouver and we are open M-F noon-4pm.

The Clark County Republican Party is guided by the 2016 Clark County Republican Party Platform and Core PrinciplesNote that our platform states: We dedicate time, talent, and efforts to electing those candidates who represent these principles and commit to implementing them into public policy.

"This ballot is WAY TOO complicated".  That is what we hear daily.  Please note that Clark County is only one of 10 counties in the state that even sends out a voter's guide.  It does not include the statewide candidates.  To find the statewide voter's guide you must go to the Secretary of State's website.  The guide will be found here.  There are other resources in this newsletter, including candidate websites in the list of candidates below.

Last year's call center photo

Here’s what your Clark County Republican Party is up to right now:  Ballots are coming in and are being processed.  This is the critical time in the election cycle to get all our friends to vote.  Here are some of the ways we are helping Republicans.  Please see where you can help out:

Election Observers:  We have certified Election Observers at the elections office each day monitoring ballots coming in and being processed.  If you are a certified observer you should be getting regular updates on the schedule.  Contact Kenny if you are not getting updates: KennySmith@ClarkRepublicans.com 360-521-8565

Call Center workers:  The call center is operating 1:00 – 8:30pm each day (11am on Saturday).  Contact KennySmith@ClarkRepublicans.com 360-521-8565 to get on the schedule.  This is HIGH PRIORITY for the next week.

Candidate parade walkers and canvassersThanks to everyone who helped in the parades!  Continue walking now for your favorite candidates by canvassing with them.  Their contact information is listed below in the list of candidates.

Identifying Republicans with WSRP’s SW WA Field Director:  Volunteers are working with Hal Palmer from WSRP to identify voters in a door to door effort.  If you want to work with the best, contact Hal at 360-431-2733 hal.equitynw@gmail.com.  He has a ton of experience and needs you!  If you have never done this type of outreach before you will be surprised at how receptive the voters will be and how much better you’ll feel knowing you’re getting your exercise and saving the country at the same time!  Hal will meet a group at 10am this Saturday at HQ.  Come join him if you are not already occupied with campaign activity.

Meeting Thousands of voters at the Fair booth: This hasn’t actually started yet, but the Clark County Fair runs from August 5th through the 14th.  The fair is open from morning to night and we have to have it staffed the entire time.  Lots of volunteers are needed.  Please contact Katja at 360-771-4858 wa4liberty@gmail.com to get on the schedule.

National Delegate, Joel Mattila wants to thank you:  "My emotions overwhelmed me as each state announced its votes for Mr. Trump. I didn't realize how much I had invested in this campaign emotionally and I had to gulp each time as votes were announced. When New York put him over the top, the hall erupted I was completely overcome. I am so proud to be involved in this movement that is more revolution than campaign. Jump on board the Trump Train and let's work together to Make America Great Again!"  Join Joel (other national delegates should join us too) this Friday evening 7:30pm at HQ.  Details below in the Coming Events section for July 29th.  Here is a story where Joel is featured: http://q13fox.com/2016/07/20/meet-the-delegates-joel-mattila-stands-tall-for-trump/

Bill Bryant to join our call center, in person on July 31st! Call Center workers will get to work beside Governor Candidate, Bill Bryant on July 31st between 5:00 – 8:00pm.  Other candidates are expected to participate.  Come join us!  See Bill Bryant’s Big Blue Bus Tour Whistle Stop Schedule here: http://www.billbryantforgovernor.com/bustour?utm_campaign=icymi_bus_all&utm_medium=email&utm_source=billbryant.

City of Vancouver to institute a tax to make homes more affordable – what?  Who here is on top of this effort by the city of Vancouver?  There will be people wanting to organize around this issue.  Please contact us if this is on your radar or you want to learn more.

All it takes for evil to prosper is for good men and women to do nothing.

Clark County citizen being sued by the county for turning in petitions under the new charter.  One of the sales pitches of the new charter was the inclusion of initiative and referendum, but is it safe to act on these rights?  Read here how the county is suing the first person to attempt a petition: http://www.electcolwell.org/rigged_clark_county_government_resorts_to_lawfare_to_intimidate_and_harass_citizen

BTW, petitions are available at HQ regarding the earlier effort to repeal the ordinance that removed Robert’s Rules of Order in conducting business at the County.  No one has been sued yet for that effort.  Please come sign the petition, if you dare.

Vote by August 2nd:  Remember that many of our candidates came to our county convention (as well as one Democrat who claimed he was a Republican).  Their speeches can be viewed here.  They are in this order if you want to skip ahead: US Senate candidate, Chris Vance, Secretary of State Incumbent Kim Wyman, State Auditor candidate, Mark Miloscia, State Treasurer candidates, Duane Davidson and Michael Waite, Lieutenant Governor candidate, Phillip Yin, 17th LD Senate candidate, Lynda Wilson, 17th LD Representative candidates, Vicki Kraft and The Democrat, 17th LD Representative Incumbent Paul Harris, 20th LD Representative Incumbent Ed Orcutt, 18th LD Representative Incumbent Liz Pike, 18th LD Representative Incumbent Brandon Vick, County Council District 3 Incumbent David Madore, County Council District 3 candidates, John Blom, County Council District 4 candidates, Jennifer McDaniel and Eileen Quiring

They also had the opportunity to speak for a CVTV video voter’s guide which can be found here: http://www.cvtv.org/vid_link/18222

A write-in Candidate for the 49th!  Don Van Dyke, discovering there was no Republican challenger for Sharon Wylie, filed to run as a write-in candidate.  His phone number is 360-574-5223 if you would like to speak with him.  He was a delegate to the county and state convention and we became well acquainted.  He was also a big help with the Lincoln Day Dinner with donations and phone calls.  He is a good choice and would appreciate your vote.  Please write in Don Van Dyke for State Representative, Pos 1.

Candidate Vetting: As reported recently, the Clark County Republican Party is developing a candidate vetting process for future elections.  The desire comes from our new platform that states: We dedicate time, talent, and efforts to electing those candidates who represent these principles and commit to implementing them into public policy.  That process will not be ready for this election season, however a number of local Republicans, including many of our PCOs have developed a candidate evaluation matrix which can be viewed here: http://clarkcounty.info/foundation-statements/political-candidate-evaluation-matrix-introduction/

"Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party” – the new Dinesh D'Souza movie is in theaters now.  "Hillary's America . . . takes audiences on a gripping journey into the secret history of the Democratic Party and the contentious rise of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton…reveals the sordid truth about Hillary . . . This eye-opening film sheds light on the Democrats' transition from pro-slavery to pro-enslavement, how Hillary Clinton's political mentor was, literally, a cold-blooded gangster, and how the Clintons and other Democrats see foreign policy not in terms of national interest, but in terms of personal profit.  Hillary's America will uncover how their plan is to simply steal America."

Office Staff Needed:  It is time to expand our office hours!  Are you able to give up a few hours per week to keep this office serving the public?  We have kept the office staffed every weekday for two years, expanding during the campaign season.  Most of our volunteers donate just one morning or one afternoon each week so the load is light on everyone.  Can you join the team?  Please contact the Office Manager, Rich Johnson at 360-253-2250 or richj@tairedd.com.

A new petition from Tim Eyman:  We love our Cars, I-869, limits car registration fees to $30.  We have until Dec. 30 to collect signatures.  Click here for the PDF that can be used to collect signatures.
