From the Chairman's Desk-July 19, 2016

If you have items for the newsletter or calendar, send them to  Please visit us at Republican HQ where we have yard signs and literature for many of the candidates.   Our address is 9401 NE Covington Rd., Vancouver and we are open M-F noon-4pm.

The Clark County Republican Party is guided by the 2016 Clark County Republican Party Platform and Core PrinciplesNote that our platform states: We dedicate time, talent, and efforts to electing those candidates who represent these principles and commit to implementing them into public policy.

Help your family and friends realize the importance of voting in the primary.  We will narrow the field to just two candidates in each race.  In most cases it will be one Republican and one Democrat.  Will that be a Republican that supports our Core Principles and Platform?  That is up to you.  Please study the candidates and help your friends make the best choice.

Another reason to vote in the primary, even if there is only one Republican in the race, is that the more votes they get, the more attention and the more donors they will attract for the general election in November.  If they get more votes in the primary than the Democrat they also will be first on the ballot and in the voter's guide!

Until August 5th, candidates and their volunteers will be out doorbelling and we’ll have volunteers making phone calls in the office.  Please join us or one of the candidates.  My phone number is 360-521-8565 and the candidate’s contact information is listed below.  Please contact us now!

We have supplies for many of the candidates at HQ.  We just received a slew of Kim Wyman yard signs that we would love to get out, plus some 4X8s that need volunteers to erect.   We also have many Bill Bryant yard signs.  Stop in and pick them up.

We encourage you to write letters to the editors asking people to vote for your favorite candidate.  This should be done immediately as I expect there is a backlog of letters waiting to be published.  Personal endorsements, like yard signs and letters, are very powerful.

Remember that many of our candidates came to our county convention (as well as one Democrat who claimed he was a Republican).  Their speeches can be viewed here.  They are in this order if you want to skip ahead: US Senate candidate, Chris Vance, Secretary of State Incumbent Kim Wyman, State Auditor candidate, Mark Miloscia, State Treasurer candidates, Duane Davidson and Michael Waite, Lieutenant Governor candidate, Phillip Yin, 17th LD Senate candidate, Lynda Wilson, 17th LD Representative candidates, Vicki Kraft and The Democrat, 17th LD Representative Incumbent Paul Harris, 20th LD Representative Incumbent Ed Orcutt, 18th LD Representative Incumbent Liz Pike, 18th LD Representative Incumbent Brandon Vick, County Council District 3 Incumbent David Madore, County Council District 3 candidates, John Blom, County Council District 4 candidates, Jennifer McDaniel and Eileen Quiring

They also had the opportunity to speak for a CVTV video voter’s guide which can be found here:

Now, more than ever, we must exercise due diligence when making our choice.  Many races will be decided in this primary, so in those races your primary vote is more important than the November 8th general election.  Please closely compare the voter’s statements in the voter’s guides and study the other resources listed below in light of your platform and your core principles.

A write-in Candidate for the 49th!  Don Van Dyke, discovering there was no Republican challenger for Sharon Wylie, filed to run as a write-in candidate.  His phone number is 360-574-5223 if you would like to speak with him.  He was a delegate to the county and state convention and we became well acquainted.  He was also a big help with the Lincoln Day Dinner with donations and phone calls.  He is a good choice and would appreciate your vote.  Please write in Don Van Dyke for State Representative, Pos 1.

"Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party” – the new Dinesh D'Souza movie will be out July 22nd.  Maybe we can make an event out of it.  Here's part of the synopsis from the movie web-site:  "Hillary's America . . . takes audiences on a gripping journey into the secret history of the Democratic Party and the contentious rise of presidential candidate Hillary Clinton…reveals the sordid truth about Hillary . . . This eye-opening film sheds light on the Democrats' transition from pro-slavery to pro-enslavement, how Hillary Clinton's political mentor was, literally, a cold-blooded gangster, and how the Clintons and other Democrats see foreign policy not in terms of national interest, but in terms of personal profit.  Hillary's America will uncover how their plan is to simply steal America."

Office Staff Needed:  It is time to expand our office hours!  Are you able to give up a few hours per week to keep this office serving the public?  We have kept the office staffed every weekday for two years, expanding during the campaign season.  Most of our volunteers donate just one morning or one afternoon each week so the load is light on everyone.  Can you join the team?  Please contact the Office Manager, Rich Johnson at 360-253-2250 or

Fair booth workers needed:  The Clark County Fair is coming August 5th through the 14th and we need people to staff the booth.  Please contact Katja at 360-771-4858 to get on the schedule.  We will have two people at the booth each shift.

A new petition from Tim Eyman:  We love our Cars, I-869, limits car registration fees to $30.  We have until Dec. 30 to collect signatures.  Click here for the PDF that can be used to collect signatures.
