New Executive Board Selected!

"No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session.  Mark Twain.

Surprisingly, with a Republican majority in the Senate and the legislature just coming into session, the citizens are already in trouble and need you to take action.  As reported by Tim Eyman, the 2/3 rule to raise taxes is in jeopardy! It must be reinstated tomorrow (Monday) and there are 4 Republican Senators already considering voting with the Democrats so that you lose that protection. Wildly popular with Republican citizens, it should certainly be popular with our Republican Senators. You’d better call them right now just to make sure they are rock-solid in their support.

Republican Senators in Clark County include:
14th Legislative District: Senator Curtis King (360) 786-7626
17th Legislative District: Senator Don Benton (360) 786–7632
18th Legislative District: Senator Ann Rivers (360) 786–7634
20th Legislative District: Senator John Braun (360) 786–7638

The 4 Senators from outside our area that are reportedly willing to give up our protection need to hear from you as well:
Senator Bruce Dammeier: 253-370-7198
Senator Andy Hill: 425-577-7269
Senator Joe Fain: 206-409-9418
Senator Steve Litzow: 206-275-2245

Please make these calls and tell them you want the 2/3 rule preserved.

This past Thursday 120 elected Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs) met to choose a new CCRP executive board and establish rules of the party (bylaws).  Every two years, according to state law, the political parties must be reorganized by a vote of the PCOs which are elected the prior August.  This year, as in 2012, the PCOs chose bylaws that limit the power of the chairman and reserve authority for the PCOs, making the Clark County Republican Party a true grassroots, bottom-up organization.

They chose the following officers:

Chairman  Kenny Smith
Vice Chairman  Lisa Ross
State Committeman Christian Berrigan
State Committwoman Katja Delavar
Secretary Mary Sue Davis
Treasurer Alan Svehaug
LD14 Director Piper McEwen
LD17 Chairman Vicki Kraft
LD18 Chairman John Anderson
LD20 Director Ron Fitch
LD49 Chairman Jim Johnson

The bylaws also require either re-adoption or abandonment of the Core Principles previously established.  Last Thursday, the PCOs unanimously re-adopted all four Core Principles:

EQUALITY UNDER LAW--Public officials should not exempt themselves from our laws or regulations.

ACCOUNTABILITY--Public officials should be held accountable to their oath of office, regardless of party affiliation.

SANCTITY OF LIFE--Human life, regardless of age, has the right to legal protection.

MINIMAL GOVERNMENT--Government's powers should be minimal, clearly defined, and honestly interpreted.

You can read more about the Core Principles process here:

Become a Contributor
Many have asked how to contribute financially to this all-volunteer organization.  A monthly contribution specifically to keep us in our terrific office space can be set up here and would be especially appreciated right now as the new board evaluates the viability of keeping the office open.  There are other ways to contribute listed here: Of course, you can always deliver your contribution to the office which is dependably staffed by volunteers.  The address is 9401 NE Covington Rd.  Call 360-695-1609 to speak with someone at the office.

 Coming Events
The events listed may or may not be organized, sponsored or endorsed by the CCRP.  If you have events that you would like to see listed, please direct them to

REPUBLICAN TOASTMASTER’S CLUB January 15th 5:00pm – 6:30pm
CCRP Headquarters 9401 NE Covington Rd, Vancouver
A Toastmasters club is an effective way to receive leadership training including public speaking skills.  I and several others want to see our fellow Republicans benefit from the same experience we have had with Toastmasters. We have proposed starting a Republican Toastmasters club. This will benefit individuals as well as our organization as we develop these skills in a supportive environment. We are going to meet each Thursday at 5-630pm.  All Republicans are welcome to join us.  Thank you, Peter Silliman

Feel free to contact me.  I am available to you any time,
