Support our County Councilors
Although the Columbian and some activists were merciless to the two Republican County Commissioners for the past couple years, the voters wisely chose another Republican, Jeanne Stewart, for the third position last November. This is the first time in memory that Republicans held all three seats.
The Councilors (formerly commissioners) hold regular public hearings in the Public Service Center, sixth-floor hearing room, 1300 Franklin St. on Tuesdays beginning at 10 a.m. with the exception of the first Tuesday of the month when the hearings begin at 6 p.m.
We encourage you to attend the meetings to show your support. The room is often filled with opposition. Your friendly face would be a welcomed addition. This week Josephine Funes Wentzel, a former PCO, has organized a prayer rally prior to the 10:00am meeting. You will find details below in the “Coming Events” section. For background on the current discussion regarding “In God We Trust” see this Reflector article.
Seriously, CCRP needs your input: Please get out your magnifying glass and open this link to view the positions we’ll be voting on this year. Which of these people should we encourage to run for re-election and which should we replace? Please send your advice to KennySmith@ClarkRepublicans.com or call 360-521-8565. We need this information right now so we can find the right candidates to serve you.
The events listed may or may not be organized, sponsored or endorsed by the CCRP. If you have events that you would like to see listed, please direct them to Media@ClarkRepublicans.com

STATE OF THE COUNTY March 12th 3:30p – 5:30pm
Skyview High School, 1300 NW 139th St, Vancouver
Vancouver, WA – Councilor David Madore, chair of the Board of County Councilors, is scheduled to present State of the County remarks on Thursday, March 12, along with Councilors Jeanne E. Stewart and Tom Mielke. Plans call for newly elected Sheriff Chuck E. Atkins and newly appointed Acting County Manager Mark McCauley to be on hand for short presentations.
The councilors also will recognize volunteers for extraordinary efforts in 2014. They urge those attending to bring non-perishable food, household supplies or financial donations for local food banks. A food drive has been a key part of State of the County in recent years. Donations in 2014 provided nearly 3,000 meals. More than 10,000 families turn to the Clark County Food Bank and partner agencies each month for help meeting basic needs.
