From the Chairman's Desk-December 8, 2015

Upcoming Events!

We want you to be especially aware of three events this week (they are also listed in the "coming events" section below):

Tonight we host an informative and collaborative discussion on SB 5263.  If this law passes, it will impact all WA citizens' property rights living in an HOA community.  Specific problems with the bill as presented in 2015 is attached here.and the history of the bill during the 2015 session at this link:   This meeting is tonight, 6:30pm, at HQ 9401 NE Covington Rd, in Vancouver.

This Friday from 6 - 9pm is the Nick of Time Holiday Fundraiser to Re-Elect State Representative Liz Pike.  Enjoy a holiday feast of appetizers and libations to warm you up before the big statewide fundraising freeze which begins Saturday.

Saturday’s memorial: And please make note of the memorial service for Ron Rasmussen Sr. which we reported on last week.  His obituary with guest book can be found here:  Ron was chairman of the Clark County Republican Party for several years and a great supporter of the community on many fronts.

Candidate for Governor, Bill Bryant will address us at our December 30 event, the Night Before New Year's Eve Party

December 30
Tickets are now available for the Night Before New Year’s Eve Party.  While Republicans hold nearly every elective partisan office in Clark County and the state legislature, we have only one statewide officeholder, Secretary of State, Kim Wyman.  The offices currently held by Democrats include Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Treasurer (currently under a 17-count indictment), Auditor, Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner, and Superintendent of Public Lands.  Let’s make a New Year’s Resolution to win Republican leadership in each of those offices.  At our party on the 30th you will get the opportunity to meet Governor candidate, Bill Bryant (website   Facebook   Twitter), Treasurer candidate,  Mark Miloscia   (website   Facebook   Twitter), and US Senate candidate Chris Vance (website   Facebook   Twitter).  Get tickets here.

Here is the latest update from Senator Don Benton  Pay particular attention to his special notice so that you can continue to receive the Benton Bulletin: Due to election year restrictions, I will not be able to send you the Benton Bulletin between Dec. 1, 2015, and Dec. 1, 2016If you would like to continue to receive updates during that period, you must send me an e-mail, specifically requesting them. You can do so by e-mailing my Legislative Assistant Alex at

Final week before the Dec 12 legislative fundraising freeze:  There are just a few days left for our state Representatives and Senators to accept your campaign contributions.  Every State Representative and State Senator in Clark County is Republican except for the three in the 49th and they are all up for re-election in 2016.  Because they cannot accept contributions while in session they had a very short opportunity last year to raise money for their campaigns due to the three added sessions.

Clark County Republican Legislators:
14th LD:  Rep. Norm Johnson, Rep. Gina McCabe, Sen. Curtis King
17th LD: Rep. Lynda WilsonRep. Paul HarrisSen. Don Benton
18th LD: Rep. Brandon VickRep. Liz PikeSen. Ann Rivers
20th LD: Rep. Richard DeBoltRep. Ed OrcuttSen. John Braun
49th LD:  No Republicans

Candidate filing week begins for Diking and Drainage District Commissioners.  If you own property in one of these 3 districts you are eligible to run for commissioner.  Election for these offices is on a rather unusual schedule so filing week is December 14 – 18 and the election will be February 2.  Please take a look at this press release and let us know if you need further information.

2016 STATEWIDE CAUCUSES February 20, 2016, 10:00am
Locations in Clark County TBD
The party platform will be discussed and resolutions presented.  Delegates to the county convention will be elected from each precinct.  The precinct caucus is a great setting to meet your neighbors who also wish to advocate Republican principles.  Please contact us if you want to help organize an effective event.

Please encourage others to sign up for our mailing list at  Many are unaware that we send weekly email.  This will be very important in the months ahead as we approach caucus and convention season.  Also, people may have to rejoin from time to time as their email provider takes them off our list thinking we are spam.  It happens every week and we have no control over it.  So if you ever hear anyone say that they used to get the newsletter, but no longer, they were likely removed by their own provider and they need to rejoin at the link above.

Call me.   I am available to you any time,
