Republican Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs) Urge Defeat of the County Charter

At Thursday night's meeting of the Clark County Republican Central Committee, the PCOs passed a "Resolution to Defeat the Freeholders' Charter".  The resolution highlights four principles of good governance and then demonstrates how the proposed charter fails to serve on those points and therefore deserves to be soundly defeated in November. The four areas are:

1. The Republican Party believes that transparency is essential to good governance.
2. The Republican Party is deeply committed to the principle that government must be accountable and responsive to the citizens it serves.
3. The Republican Party believes in the importance of checks and balances on power.
4. The Republican Party is an advocate for limited and cost-effective government.

You can find the full text of the resolution here.  You can find the list of PCOs here.

The PCOs did not stop there. They also supported to a “Resolution Urging a NO Vote on Washington Initiative 594”, and UNANIMOUS passage of a “Resolution Opposing National Common Core Education Standards”.  You’ll soon be able to find all of these at the Press Release tab of the website.

If you have taken our “Core Principles Survey”, you’ll be interested to know the PCOs approved the following four Statements of Core Principles:

EQUALITY UNDER LAW--Public officials should not exempt themselves from our laws or regulations.
ACCOUNTABILITY--Public officials should be held accountable to their oath of office, regardless of party affiliation.
SANCTITY OF LIFE--Human life, regardless of age, has the right to legal protection.
MINIMAL GOVERNMENT--Government's powers should be minimal, clearly defined, and honestly interpreted

Please note:  Core Principles must pass with a very high percentage of votes cast (75%) and a super quorum of PCOs present before a vote can be taken, but we are a Big Tent Republican Party.  These are not a litmus test to membership, just a reflection of what the current governing body supports.  None of these passed unanimously.  Debate is encouraged.  All opinions are welcome.
