From the Chairman's Desk-April 26, 2016

Primary Focus Right Here!

If you have items for the calendar or newsletter, send them to media@clarkrepublicans.com

Two Years!  Republican Party HQ is located at 9401 NE Covington Rd in Vancouver, WA.  We have maintained regular, dependable office hours a minimum of five day per week the entire two years since acquiring this terrific location.  That is due to the dedication of Brenda Poletti, former Vice Chairman and Office Manager and the great team of volunteers she organized.  Is that a record for the Clark County Republican Party?  We will continue that level of service for you now under the leadership of Rich Johnson, our new office manager.  Rich has been an integral part of the team for a long time and can be reached at richj@tairedd.com  360 253-2250.  We are currently preparing to expand our hours during the election season.  Contact Rich if you would like to join the team.  Currently the office is open noon-4pm M-F.  The phone number is 360-695-1609 and is answered all hours.

Originally we asked people to make a regular financial commitment if they wanted us to open this office.  We have more than kept our end of the bargain.  The office has been a blessing and sees heavy use many evenings and weekends. Won’t you please commit or re-commit to regular support to cover the approximately $2000 each month required to keep the office open?  We currently have much-appreciated monthly donors of between $5 - $50.  We would like you to join them by setting up your contribution at https://clarkrepublicans.nationbuilder.com/office_upg_donate or schedule a monthly contribution through your bank which can be sent to Clark County Republican Party, PO Box 205, Vancouver, WA  98666.

Donald Trump coming to Vancouver?  As was reported on the news all around the state, Donald Trump called the volunteers gathered for an organizing meeting at the Clark County Republican Party HQ last week.  It was an out the door, standing-room only event as you can see in the video above. You can hear his call by clicking on the video.  He discusses coming to Vancouver on May 7th.  They are working on details and we will let you know as soon as information is available.

Lincoln Day Dinner June 4th.  Would you like to help this year's event?  The Lincoln Day Dinner is our biggest fundraiser of the year and the past three have been record-breakers.  We need donations of quality items & services for our live and silent auctions and have scheduled a meeting at HQ this Thursday at 7pm if you want to learn more.  Maybe your business has a service or product you can donate, as has been the practice of such great supporters as 9 Cent Color Copies, RW Pawn, Global Security, Creekside Painting, Erik Runyan Jewelers & many others.  If you are not a business owner maybe you have other ways to contribute, like use of a vacation home, a ride in your race car, or an afternoon on your yacht?  If you have attended our dinner in the past you know how popular these items are and how important the funds raised are to the success of the organization.  Can you can become a corporate sponsor at levels of $10,000, $5,000, $2500 or $1000?   We have a high quality speaker in Bill Whittle and tickets will soon go on sale at http://www.clarkrepublicans.org/ldd_2016.  Contact Kenny at 360-521-8565 KennySmith@ClarkRepublicans.com if you have an interest in contributing.

Help Wanted: Parade Coordinator.  There are a number of parades coming up and we need an organizer.  We have had some pretty awesome floats in the past and this year’s election requires careful attention to detail with volunteers and representation from each candidate.

How do I change my registration from Democrat to Republican? That is one of the most frequent questions we’ve been getting for the past several months.  Many Democrats have told us they are disgusted with their party and are voting Republican this year.  Do you know the answer?  Surprisingly many long-term Washingtonians do not realize that we have never registered by party affiliation, so there is nothing the voter needs to do.  Each registered voter will receive a Democratic and Republican ballot in the mail.  We will have to sign a declaration on the envelope choosing a party just for this one vote.  Confirming that the ballot in the envelope and the declaration match is an additional task for the elections office and our election observers.

Election observers heading back to work.  If you are a certified election observer you can expect a call from us shortly as you will be needed for the presidential primary in May.  If you would like to become an observer or just want to learn about the election process, please note the June 8 training in the “Coming Events” section below.  Only certified observers are allowed on the floor during ballot processing.  Training is only offered one day per year so don’t miss this opportunity.  The June training comes too late for observing the presidential primary, but is still early enough to observe in the August primary and the November general election.

Clark County Republican Party goes to the fair!  The fair runs from August 5 through the 14th and we have the same great location.  The cost of the booth is $1500 once again this year.  Thank you to everyone who made recent donations to help cover the expense.  More contributions would be appreciated which you can make at https://clarkrepublicans.nationbuilder.com/one_time_donation or mail a check to CCRP, PO BOX 205, VANCOUVER, WA  98666.  It is greatly appreciated!
