Election Special - Supreme Court & PUD

Ballots went in the mail yesterday which means some of us will be voting today!  Can you believe it?  It is finally here!

We call your attention to four non-partisan races that we hope will get your support.  These races are often skipped by the voters because they don’t have time to study the candidates and the candidates have no party affiliation attached to them.

There are nine members on the state supreme court.  We have a chance to replace three of them this year with these highly qualified individuals.  These three have been endorsed by the Clark County Republican Party and the Washington State Republican Party.  We need you to vote, and encourage your friends to vote as well.  This is an unprecedented opportunity to restore sanity to the court.

Republican HQ is open Monday through Saturday from noon - 6pm. 9401 NE Covington Rd, Vancouver.

The Clark County Republican Party is guided by Core Principles and the 2016 Clark County Republican Party PlatformNote that our platform states: We dedicate time, talent, and efforts to electing those candidates who represent these principles and commit to implementing them into public policy.

Important new tab on the website: Ballot Recommendations.  Included are links to the candidates plus additional ballot information.  This will be updated as more information becomes available.  You can also print out a list here and stick it on your fridge for easy reference).

Callers needed:  Contact Kenny today to get on the call center schedule and help us Get Out the Vote (GOTV)! 360-521-8565 KennySmith@ClarkRepublicans.com.  We’ll be making calls each day between noon and 9pm.

Every single daily newspaper endorses Secretary of State, Kim Wyman!  You read that right - there isn’t a single daily newspaper endorsing my opponent. All of them observed the clear difference in experience and qualifications between her and me, and opted to keep our elections fair, accurate, and impartial. You can go here to read the full endorsements.

Three sources of candidate information:
1.
ClarkCounty.info, whose stated goal is to promote smaller and more honest local government has developed an evaluation process that is criteria-based, consistent, objective, and results in an aggregate score for the candidate: Political Candidate Evaluation Matrix by Jurisdiction.
2. Family Policy Institute of Washington encourages you to use of IVoter guide.
3.  Clark County Republican Party Ballot Recommendations (print this out and stick it on your fridge).

Campaign signs need your help!  Campaign signs are tipped over all around the county due to the recent winds.  With just a couple tools you can fix them in just a few minutes.  The sign teams would really appreciate the help!.  The only tools you need are a hammer and a screw gun with Phillips and T25 Torx bit.  Feel free to stop and repair any Republican sign you see.  Even yard signs should be righted and straightened up.  It's a small effort if we all chip in and keep our candidates looking sharp!

Yard signs in abundance!  Please stop in and get some yard signs today!  Let’s get them out in public where they can do some good.  A sign in your yard is a personal recommendation that will garner votes.  We’re open noon – 6pm Monday through Saturday.  9401 NE Covington Rd, Vancouver.  360-695-1609.

Attendance / Activism Needed:  Domestic Energy / Jobs Public Hearing October 25th!!  We need to develop our domestic energy!  We need to develop a more prosperous economy for Southwest Washington!  Our nominee, Donald Trump, along with many other Republican leaders have been calling for the development of our domestic natural resources and the jobs and prosperity which come along with it.  But there is no magic button in the Oval Office.  Implementing our conservative economic agenda requires LOCAL ACTIVISM.

If all us local Republicans will attend the Army Corps of Engineers RIDGEFIELD Public Hearing regarding the Longview coal terminal, we can not only deliver a victory for Southwest Washington families who need great jobs, but we can also deliver a defeat to the anti-capitalist professional protester class, telling them their decades of fighting to de-industrialize our state are over!  It’s really worth 2 hours of our time, and watching the traveling liberal troubadours (like the singing grannies) will be entertaining too!

Please go to this event registration page to RSVP.  Though the event is all day, we are just organizing to all be there from 4pm – 6pm.  Wear your brand!  Trump supporters – wear your Trump gear – make sure the left knows that Trump supporters are a local political force to be reckoned with.  Wear your GOP regalia or swag from your favorite local or statewide candidates.  This is going to be fun, and we can hopefully convert the resulting media attention into some great Get Out The Vote messaging because the meeting is right in the middle of our voting period!  Please register for the event, then go to the Facebook event and RSVP.  Thank you!!   -Christian Berrigan, State Committeeman, Clark County Republican Party.  Event Registration (free) http://createnwjobs.com/advocacy-register/  Facebook Event RSVP: https://www.facebook.com/events/560174334177839/

Tonight - DEFENDING FREEDOM, WHY ELECTIONS MATTER TO THE CHURCH  October 4, 6:00 – 8:00pm
Grace Baptist Church 9400 NE 50th Ave, Vancouver
Without a doubt, the upcoming elections will define the United States for decades to come. Though we are a nation with deep roots in the Judeo-Christian tradition, the protections we have enjoyed for hundreds of years may soon be in jeopardy.  Religious freedom is eroding, our sacred institutions have been assaulted, and our government seems intent on ensuring that their authority reaches beyond all others. In these challenging times, how will you stand for what is good and true?  We'll walk you through what matters most in the upcoming elections, from the federal elections to the state legislature and the state courts. We'll work through the issues that are coming down the pike here in Washington and equip you with the information you need to steward God's authority well at the ballot box.  Visit the Facebook Event Page for more information.

Tonight - VICE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE October 4, 6:00 – 8:00pm
Your TV or Computer
All the networks are carrying the debate tonight as well as radio stations 101.1 FM KXL and 1190 AM KEX, but you should be aware of Right Side Broadcasting that has streamed each Donald Trump public event.  Their website is: rsbn.tv and their youtube channel is:  https://www.youtube.com/user/rightsideradio.  We encourage you to support them.

Tonight - COUNTY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING October 4, 6:00pm
Public Service Center, sixth-floor hearing room, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver
NOTE: This is the first Tuesday of the month so the meeting is in the evening rather than the usual 10am time.  The council has a surprise for us each week.  Come see what this week brings.  Clearly we need many activists there to watch and report what is happening to our county.  Please come to these county hearings, or at least watch them on www.CVTV.org (and then you’ll probably start attending anyway).

Judicial Candidates coming to Vancouver September 15th.   A rare opportunity to learn about State Supreme Court Candidates.  Too often voters skip the judicial races on their ballot.  Let's make sure that doesn't happen this year.  We need to elect these three justices to bring sanity and accountability back to the institution.  Please bring family & friends to Club Green Meadows on the 15th.  Please Invite, Like and Share at the Facebook Event page by clicking here.

Clark County gets honored seats at Donald Trump Rally (and end up in the new Trailer for Dinesh D'Sousa movie)!  Those who joined the Clark County caravan to the Donald Trump rally in Everett last week were seated in the first two rows behind Mr. Trump.  Thank you Karen Trumbull and Jeremy Luciano for organizing the caravan and thank you Senator Don Benton for arranging the amazing seats for the Clark County contingent.  In the latest movie trailer (click on the above) for Hillary's America, Clark County supporters are seen standing with Mr. Trump.

Steve McLaughlin for Public Lands.
This year’s Public Lands Commissioner results will determine the future of our public lands.  We can preserve them through healthy maintenance and production, or continue with an even more aggressive environmentalist ‘let it burn’ policy.  Common sense conservation plan vs the environmental agenda.  Visit his Facebook page and Website for more information.  Is there someone that would like to help us organize a Meet & Greet for Steve in Clark County on October 12th or 13th?  Contact Kenny at 360-521-8565 or KennySmith@ClarkRepublicans.com.

Press Release: Clark County Republican Party Nominates All Republican Primary Winners, Makes Ballot Recommendations

Vancouver, WA  8/27/16:    The Clark County Republican Central Committee provided guidance to voters Saturday by deciding which candidates to endorse in the November elections.  The Central Committee is the governing body of the Party consisting of the Precinct Committee Officers (PCOs) elected or appointed per state law.

All Republican candidates were invited to attend.  They were first nominated for the position by the PCOs within their district, that vote was consequently ratified by the entire body whereupon the candidate was invited to speak.  All Republican candidates received the nomination of the PCOs on Saturday.

After all the nominations and speeches were concluded, the PCOs met privately to discuss endorsements.  They had three options:

ENDORSE:           The party can actively support the candidate and the candidate has access to party resources.

NO POSITION:   The party will neither actively support nor actively oppose the candidate.  Access to party resources is limited.  This is the default position when the Precinct Committee Officers do not vote to “Endorse” or to “Oppose”.  If an endorsement motion fails, the position is “No Position” unless a specific motion to oppose passes.

OPPOSE:              The party MAY actively oppose the candidate but is not obligated to do so.  No access to party resources.

Some are surprised that PCOs don''t just automatically endorse all Republican candidates. Many who run for PCO do so when they see how broken our government has become and desire to commit time and energy to repair it.  Most PCOs do not wish to be mere cheerleaders.  I am very proud of the PCOs for the hours they spent deliberating and the principled stands they took, knowing they would face criticism.  For those candidates not earning an endorsement, it should be noted that their opponent was officially opposed so there should be no question of who the PCOs prefer for the position.

The county party is where grassroots volunteers do the work.  There are no paid employees here.

Lee Davis, longtime Republican volunteer and Precinct Committee Officer died August 12th.  He was 81.  Lee had a long history of service to the community, to candidates, and to the Party.  Two months ago the PCOs honored him with a resolution highlighting some of his many accomplishments.  We need more volunteers to step up and take his place.  We offer condolences to his family and friends.
